Goal: - produce a burning plasma - 500 MW fusion power Q > 10 - Cost: $20 billion

Structure: - 1 central solenoid (13m high, 1000 tonnes, niobium tin superconductors) - 18 toroidial magnets (17m, 360 tonnes each, niobium tin superconductors) - 6 poloidial magnets (8-24m diametre, 200-400 tonnes each)

ITER’s Goal: Q > 10 ‘Controlled ignition’ Q > 30
